Sigur Ros’ “Heima” on Youtube
March 8, 2008 by Michael
“Having toured the world over, Sigur Ros return home to play a series of free, unannounced concerts in Iceland.”
A beautiful semi-music documentary on the amazing band, Sigur Ros, and their homeland, Iceland, premiered full and un-cut on youtube yesterday. It’s old news, I know, but I own a copy so I wasn’t really looking out for it and I stumbled on the video like 5 minutes ago. I’m posting it because I’ve been meaning to write a post about the DVD for a while. Trust me, it is worth your time. The youtube quality will not come close to doing it justice but it will have to do:
After you watch it, I think you’ll want to buy it. Thoughts and a review of it will be posted shortly.
I’m a fan of these guys–their unique, otherworldly soundscapes. Great to write to, great to put one on another plane of existence. Have you heard John Foxx’s “Tinycolourmovies”–it’s terrific ambient stuff plus the liner notes are amazing. Highly recommmended…
Yeah…Sigur Ros make music that can’t be put into words.
Thanks a lot, I will check this John Foxx guy out.
And wow…you’re an actual, successful, professional author! You’re living my dream. Actually, I’m not sure if it’s my dream anymore — I’m finding it’s really freakin’ hard, and perhaps it isn’t what I am supposed to be doing…or can do at a satisfactory level.
Anyways, I have a lot of respect for what you do.
I watched that video and I have to say, i want one of those t-shirts.
sigur ros performed at UCLA this past quarter - all i can say is i was left speechless, and with an irresistible urge to cry.
it was amazing (:
kristiane: Those t-shirts do look pretty cool. But they make it look so easy to make that I’m afraid to find out how much they are and have to fork the money over to get one.
tingtiing: Yes…someone I know went to that show. And they only told me about it after the fact. I was relatively annoyed, at first. It turned out I wouldn’t have been able to go ‘cos I don’t go to UCLA, but still.
I love bands like this. so different. I tried to find some more dates for them but their myspace page doesn’t show much.
The video is no longer available.
Well…I guess the dream is over. I told you guys to watch it!
Oh well. I’ll post the review soon. I just have to put in some links and upload some songs and stuff for it. Man…I hope the film gets made available again on youtube…or pops back up somewhere else on the web.
[...] The band released the main feature portion of this film on youtube last week, which I posted on this post. But it has since been taken down. I’m expecting, or hoping, the band to make it available [...]
